The unknown is not a void, there are resources in it… we just don’t know what they are.
This bit of wisdom came out of my women’s group the other day. When one woman said this, it instantly helped me shift my perspective about something difficult that I was dealing with… or rather wanting to avoid dealing with for many reasons. The biggest one was my own fear.
Fearing the unknown can make us stay where we are - stuck.
Doing the same things over and over again because we don’t know what’s coming next/how to handle it/what we will need to do, means that either nothing changes, or we have a very painful transition while changes are happening no matter what.
We can worry about it because our imaginations can get the better of us. Worse case scenarios are like noisy, bratty children who scream for our attention. And they are so dramatic so you know that everything is exaggerated.
But the unknown isn’t a vacuum that will consume us.
What could you discover if you explored what you don’t know?
Get curious.
You will always find something useful when you remain interested and attentive.
The unknown isn’t a void. It never is. It’s always filled with resources. You just don’t know what they are, yet.
